The R.C.I.A. is primarily a journey of faith
- From the awareness of stirring of faith and curiosity within one's heart,
- through all those stages of asking and seeking,
- through beginning involvement with Roman Catholic people,
- through hearing the Gospel proclaimed and by faithful reflection and prayer on this
Word of God,
- through study and discussion about the Catholic experience,
- through doubts and hesitations,
- through discernment of God's call for them as individuals,
- through the steps of commitment,
- through the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist)
- to a life of faith, love, and justice lived in communion with Catholics throughout the world.
Testimonials
R.C.I.A. was not what I expected it to be. I always had the impression, based on stereotypes, that you could not become Catholic if you were divorced. Because of this misnomer, I was very hesitant about going through RCIA and being baptized - being non-denominational originally. I was very wrong. I was received with open arms and being a divorcee was not an issue. R.C.I.A. is available to ALL of those interested in becoming Catholic.

After hearing a pastor say: "the Catholic Church is a cult and worships Mary and the Saints" and he went on to say quite a bit more about Catholic beliefs. All of which made me very uncomfortable. Shortly after that, I left that non-denominational church. Seeking more information on Catholic faith beliefs, I attended RCIA. RCIA proved to be: informative, welcoming, family oriented and very enjoyable. I learned Catholics are Christians of faith and community, not a crazy cult.
