When a loved one has died, very often family doesn’t know where to turn, who to talk to, or what steps to take in planning a funeral. The following should help ease the process.

• If you have a funeral home selected, call them when the death has occurred.
• If you desire to have a Catholic funeral, call the parish next and speak with a priest to schedule the funeral. Availability of the priest and the church will determine date and time for the funeral.
• Once the date is scheduled, family will meet with the priest to select music, readings, and other details of the funeral Mass. There will also be a meeting arranged separately with the funeral home.
