Horror movies, New Age practices, and occult trends are everywhere—especially in October. It gets marketed as "harmless fun," but treating the spiritual world like a game leaves us anxious, distracted, and numb to the truth.
Whether you want to strengthen your faith or are just trying to navigate the noise, this talk is designed to help you recognize these subtle influences and equip you with the practical tools to fight back. Discover the enemy's hidden traps, reclaim your true identity in Christ, and learn why turning to Mary is the ultimate way to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.
Sister M. Gabriela Maldonado, SCMC, is a perpetually professed member of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church. A native of Mexico, she moved with her family to Janesville, WI, in 2000. After her confirmation and a providential encounter with the Sisters of Charity at their nursing home in Janesville, WI she began to sense a call to religious life. In 2004 she entered the congregation and moved to their Motherhouse in Connecticut, professing perpetual vows in 2007.
Sister Gabriela served for more than twelve years as a Catholic school educator and holds a Master’s degree in Theology. In 2022 she was appointed Vocation Director for her community, a ministry that brings her across the country to give talks, visit colleges, and accompany young women discerning God’s call. Her deepest joy is helping people of all ages grow in their love for Jesus through Mary.
